Got an old Dell computer from a friend that originally had XP Home. Her son put XP Pro on it and now that message comes up saying it's not genuine. I have a Dell CD with XP Home and would like to revert back to XP Home so it's legal, however I don't want to format the hard drive and lose all the other programs. Is there any way to do a repair install or some other method to get Home back and get rid of Pro?? I have the original product key.
Sorry, but the only way to revert to Windows XP Home Edition is to boot form the Dell Windows XP Reinstallation CD and format the hard drive before installation.Carey Frisch
