I've validated windows, with two failures.... One of them is office, which I don't have on this computer, no biggie.

Go to http://microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the Start Diagnostic button. Follow the directions till the page shows all Green Check Marks. Once that is done, click the Validate Windows button. Your Windows should Validate as Genuine and then you should be able to install WMP.
