Server Installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just received the WHS software package from Amazon.com.  To install the server software do I have to use the OEM Preinstallation Kit CD or do I just use the Windows Homer Server DVD?

  • You use the Windows Home Server installation DVD.

The OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK) is for OEMs and system builders who plan to sell the system after it's set up. There's not much that the average end user of Windows Home Server will need in it.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Thanks Ken! I am sure as I go through the installation & setup I will have more questions.  I really appreciate your advice and answers to my questions.

  • Just a tip: Don't activate your WHS until it's at or near the thirty day deadline.  I went through 4 installs until I got the right hardware set-up.
