Computer Monitoring Error

Question
-
All of a sudden I am getting this error. I probably triggered it when I cloned a system and had two computers on the home network with the same name? I have since removed all computers and disabled the WHS Backup. BUT... the alert keeps on coming. Can some one tell me what I have to do to get back to normal? I have requested the hotfix that seems to address this issue but it does not instill confidence. Guidance would be appreciated.

I think it's the latter. The update which causes the issue is rather old, so you probably did not install it recently.
Apparently the error starts occuring as soon as you mess around with the list of client computers. I got it as soon as I deleted a client in the WHS console.

Ok. I kind of figured that is what did it since it had been running without an issue for many months. Thanks for the quick responses. I guess the alert won't cause a real problem so I'll let WHS run for a few more weeks and see it MSFT applies the fix. Thanks again.

I would wait a few days. The next update pack is in beta right now, and includes the hotfix that you mentioned.

Martin,
Do you happen to know what actually trigger this alert. Was it a previous update or was it me screwing around cloning a system and having two systems with the same name on the network for a couple of days?

Just in case you are not aware of it the "computer monitoring error" can be caused by at least three different bugs ...
My "bug" was an old router ... but my thread does mention some of the other problems (See Susan Bradley posts)

There are other threads around too ...

I did not wait for the next Update Pack, I applied the recommended HotFix and it appears like is solved all my problems, at least for now. I have renewed faith in MSFT and WHS!Sunday, June 10, 2012 6:21 PM
