Connect an Activity to an E-Mail RRS feed

  • Question

  • Sometimes I create an activity because of an e-Mail i received. I want to make a connection between those 2 entities so that when I create the activity I can reference the e-Mail.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could provide me with a solution that does not require any programming.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Unfortunately there is no direct way to relate activities to other activities. I've been toying with an idea, which I haven't got around to blogging yet. Basically you add a new text field to the secondary activity with a format of html. Then, when you want to link back to the email, go to the email record in CRM, go to Actions-Copy Shortcut and paste this into the new attribute. You can then double-click it to get back to the referenced email.

  • You add it to the specific activity entity i.e. phone call, appointment etc.

  • Thanks for your reply.

That would work, but I don't want to save the e-mail in order to attach it. Ideally I want to connect the e-mail-task inside CRM to the activity.

  • That sounds like a good solution. But unfortunately I can't add a field to the activity-entity. Is that possible from within CRM by creating an attribute?
