University of Pittsburgh student-issued Windows XP Pro showing as counterfeit on my system. This was made available to studnets through the technology department at University of Pittsburgh back in 2001-2002, and is now showing up as counterfeit! Any help for this?Wednesday, May 31, 2006 6:33 PM

I do know that your specific Product Key has recieved specific instructions from the owner (double-checked). I would still contact the University, as you purchased your software and are rightfully entitled to it :). Unfortunately, it is up to the University to validate the copy was purchased there (as we don't have access to that kind of personal data).
I'm sorry for the bad news, but I hope it does provide some insight.
As for office, file a request with Dell. They will be able to fix it right away as well.

Please follow this WGA troubleshooting procedure:
1. Download and install the WGA Diagnostic Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Validation" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".
3. Next, paste the results in a reply to this thread.
4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and recommend an appropriate solution.

That specific product key has been blocked in certain geographical locations based on instructions from the License Owner. I would recommend heading back to the University's IT department to remedy this situation.
Also, your copy of Office is not genuine - if you have purchased Office through the University as well, I would recommend seeking their counsel.

That was back in late 2001, and I have since moved many times. My Office was purchased through Dell with my PC.Wednesday, May 31, 2006 8:22 PM
