    Previous Correspondance

As i mentioned the Vista came preinstalled with the laptop - I did the sytem recovery that puts the laptop back to factory condition. The way I did this was through Recovery Manager on Vista

    Question

An Unauthorized change was made to Windows ? Not sure why this keeps on popping up?

I have recently reformatted my computer, and I am getting the following problem.

An Unauthorized change was made to Windows.
You will no longer receive notification including those about licenses or activation:
    Error 0XL004D401 ,
The Security Processer reported a system file mismatch. Use the link below to find out how to fix your system, When I click on the link it takes me to a Microsoft page where it says to click regarding validation. http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.aspx . When I do this nothing happens though.

I am really confused, because Windows Vista came preinstalled with the Laptop, and I don't have any CDs/ DVD regarding VIsta, and never had any of these notices popping up before

    hi

you do not say how you reformatted/reinstalled Vista

as you say you do not have a Disk you would have used the Recovery partition?

run a MGA Diagnostics Report and repost in the Vista Genuine Forum

When you login to Vista, a window with several options will be available, select the option to open your  Internet browser.

    ·        Type:http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.

    ·        A window will come up prompting to “Run” or “Save”, select “Run”

    ·        When the MGA Diagnostic Tool starts running click the “Continue” button, when the diagnostics is complete click the “Copy” button.

    ·        Paste the report into a thread in the appropriateWindows Genuine Advantage forum

Here is where to repost that MGA Diagnostics Report

Issues relating to the Windows Vista Software Protection Platform - Non-Genuine dialog boxes, validation problems, or software licensing services messages.

    You've recently installed Avast v6??
If so, that's the cause of your problem. So far the only solution we've found is to uninstall Avast, and use an alternative AV.
You need also to run the Avast Uninstall Utility, which will remove other bits left behind by the normal uninstall routine.
http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility - before installing the new AV
