What are we paying for!!!! Useless Software?? RRS feed

Why should we have to take extra steps to get rip of stuff that Windows live care is made to do? Your software should pick up everything so why doesn't it? What are we paying for? I ran windows live one care and it says my computer is clean. But, Anti Spywarebot says i have 1524 Infections! Pctools says i have 2 trojans!! What is going on why is Windows live care not picking things up the freeware does? Am not very happy with thinking i have complete computer care when i clearly don't! What am i paying for?

  • I can't speak for the other products, but please realize that many antispyware products will report cookies as infections. OneCare does not deal with tracking cookies - these can be dealt with by managing the privacy settings in your web browser.

No security product is perfect, not even OneCare. Things do get by.

Follow the instructions in this post, http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=662566&SiteID=2, to report a virus that is not detected by OneCare and to get help in removal or to report a suspected false positive - a threat detected by OneCare in error.

If you are using Windows Live OneCare and you have been infected, but OneCare did not detect or cannot remove the malware, please contact support to report this and for help with removal.

If you are in North America, you can call 866-727-2338 for help with virus and spyware infections. See http://www.microsoft.com/protect/support/default.mspx  for details.  For international information, see your local subsidiary Support site.

  • You should be aware that Anti Spywarebot is a rogue security program that issues false scan results and who knows what else, if I were you I'd remove it..pronto
