Thread opens very slowly RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is there another way to open a big thread?

I have a thread that i visit often and it has over 100 posts to it.

When I attempt to open it, it takes a good three or four minutes before i can do anything with IE windows.

Is there a way to open it more quickly?

Other smaller threads open very quickly.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tony

  • Sorry about that, we don't have paging. We'll either start enforcing a cap OR we'll implement some way to have paging. I'm not sure which. I don't think threads should ever need to be more than 50 replies.  If a thread cannot be resolved with 25 or so, it probably won't be resolved with another 40.

More important than the number of posts would be their content.   E.g. here's one which was finally locked after  230  posts, many of which contain high resolution graphic images.

FWIW I think it may be faster to use the Last Reply link when that is what you want to see.   That's what the above link is.

Another alternative would be to subscribe to the thread's RSS view and thus see only new messages for it.

  • Hello Robert.

It looks like Last Reply does the same thing.  It takes the same amount of time to open.  The difference is it shows you the end of the posts or the "Last Reply".

    Thanks,
    Tony
