How can I prepopulate a field on a page using parameters right in the URL? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here's a stock quote search page (http://www.cboe.com/delayedquote/quote-table) I want a static URL that I can click that will go to that site and pre-populate the Symbol field with a symbol of my choose (e.g. AAPL). It seemed from my research this was a piece of cake by adding a question-mark parameter to the URL (e.g. > ...delayedquote/quote-table-download?txtTicker=AAPL but that doesn't seem to work...(i used 'txtTicker' because in the page's source code it appears that that's the name of that form field?)
    Anyone help?
(Even better, btw, is if I could create single URL that would not only prepopulate that field, but Submit it as well...fewer clicks = better...)
