Media Connect and wrong file path

Question

Hi everyone,
I really need your help because I think tear my hair soon. Since I use WHS at home, I met gradually trouble reading files via my server. I thought my game console (Xbox 360), could not play certain codecs, but after checking, the console could very well read certain files on the server.
I realized ultimately that WHS seem poorly indexed or block files. I have the impression that the file path is not good.
I try to index files with Media Player 10 but it was worse, and many files like music was no longer working. As if the server lost all trace of its files.
I reinstalled WHS, all files work on my console or home computer. After making the updates to WHS (I stopped to Power Pack 2) I have never launched Media Player, and when I add new videos on the server, and although it does not simply walk!
When I pass by Media Connect, an error message appears, saying that the file path is wrong. When I start the video by browsing the directory on the network, it starts well.
So I really dry and I do not know what to do at all! Thank you for your help if you know a solution to my problem.Wednesday, March 17, 2010 9:20 AM

managed to find the problem this morning, indeed, in desperation I try to change the location of my files, and it works miracles!
It sounds to me like you are moving from files by logging into the server desktop and doing it through D:\shares. This is unsupported and may be causing your problem. You should do all of your file relocation through the UNC path (\\server\sharename).
In fact, I saw a strange event. When I want to move a file from one directory to another, if it is done very quickly, the file will not work. By cons, if I wait a few seconds or minutes for moving a file, then it works.
So when I move a file from one directory, I prefer to directly copy pure make sure it works.
Is the Power Pack 3 solves this kind of problem? I will go and update my WHS.Wednesday, March 17, 2010 3:10 PMModerator

Continue to upgrade to Power Pack 3. You may have to reboot and use Windows Update a number of times before you are fully updated. If you still can't access media on your Windows Home Server from the Xbox let us know.
