WHS and Windows 7 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Now that Windows 7 beta is almost out of the door I was wondering if anyone who has access to the pre-builds has had any success in installing the WHS connector and backed up their PC. I am a beta invitee and will most probably be installing it when it comes out. I am curious as to whether, after the installation/upgrade the PC will still be shown as backed up on the WHS console and whether I would still be able to revert back to my previous state(Vista) should I need to. Of course I understand that all this kind of stuff is really unsupported but it would be good to have a thread that can discuss these issues.

  • Yes, WHS Connector installs and backs up Win 7 machines fine (build 6801 and 6956), however, it labels the computer as a Vista Ultimate machine, not a Windows 7 machine, so be careful to use the dates when restroring, not the OS listed.

I have tested this to revert back to XP and Vista from a 7 test and they both restored accurately.

And you will love Win 7.
