I think that Microsoft have changed the software for Remote Desktop recently. The old mstsc.exe no longer works and so I cannot use the old tabbed dialog box as you suggest. The only options offered now are to connect to a remote https computer
which it won't do as it is "not connected" or connect to an e-mail address which I don't really understand.
If I do try to connect using the computer name, it can find it but then says,
"The remote computer cannot be authenticated due to problems with its security certificate.
Security certificate problems might indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the remote computer.
Windows cannot continue setting up this connection. Contact your workplace administrator for assistance."
I guess this is because the certificate says my_name.homeserver.com and the computer name is HPStorage so they don't match.
I will try again tomorrow, but it does not look very good at the moment.
