What is with all of the uploading?

Question
-
I have my mesh setup pretty basic right now - 2 computers with one picture folder shared. Both computers already had all of the bits so I added them both as my pictures folder last night. The folder is about 14GB with about 9000 files in it. This morning the status on the XP (SP3) box says uploading 555MB of 558MB. If I watch it long enough the 558MB jumps higher. This can't be a single file since these are just pictures and small video clips none of which are bigger than 30MB. The Vista (SP1) box doesn't show any status at all. My live desktop shows that the 5GB is full which is expected.
What's it doing?

Hi Brad,
I've mentioned this in a previous thread, but the numbers in the Notifier ("Uploading X MB of Y MB") are slightly misleading, as they only tell you how much this device is currently slated to upload, capped at some finite value at that instant in time, so it will fluctuate as more files get uploaded to the cloud. We're aware that these numbers aren't too useful, and are working to improve the experience. Feedback, of course, is always welcome!
Thanks,
Richard

Hi Brad,
It does sound like you're experiencing unexpected behavior. Would you mind submitting a bug report with logs (from both machines)? We would like to look into this further.
To submit a bug with logs attached:
Please go to http://connect.microsoft.com/. Sign in and then select Live Mesh Tech Preview on Your Dashboard. Click Feedback and follow the instructions for collecting your logs and then submit a bug.
To get your logs:
1. Click Start.
2. Select All Programs and look for the Live Mesh folder.
3. Click Collect Live Mesh Logs.
4. Your logs will be bundled together in a cab file now located on your desktop.
Attach your LiveMeshLogs.cab file located on your desktop to your bug.Note: you will have to submit a bug first, then edit it to attach your logs.
If you do not have access to the Live Mesh Connect site, you can email your logs to lmprev@microsoft.com. Please provide as much information about your issue as you can in that email.
Thanks,

Is there a reason that my XP box is showing upload traffic while my Vista box is not? Both directories already existed with all of the data before I added them to my mesh. I would expect that it would realize that it's already synced and then just add whatever it wants to my live desktop.Tuesday, May 13, 2008 4:25 PM

Did you install on the XP box first? Perhaps it has taken on the job of uploading to the cloud - the Live Desktop.

I did install there first, but the cloud has already been showing at a full 5GB for quite some time.
The problem now is that it seems to have stopped uploading, but I created a small text file (called x.txt) on the vista box and it has not propagated over to the XP box.
