Question
-
Howdy, I've had my desktop for a while now, and recently i started getting this thing pop up in the corner of my screen saying that my copy of windows is not genuine? I tried putting in my product key into Windows Activation that pops up every now and then and when i start up. But I get the error code: 0xC004F050. I've run the MGADiag and this is the result:

Please attempt the Licensing Store fix from my first post again - it may work this time.

The problem appears to be in the Licensing Store - please try the following.....
Recreate the Licensing Store with the correct data.
1) Open an Internet Browser window.
2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
3) Find the file CMD.exe
4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
9) Type: net start slsvc
10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
11) Restart your computer twice.
You may be asked to enter your COA Key and/or Activate. – if asked for the Key, use the one on your COA sticker on the machine’s case (you may need to activate by telephone).
Once complete, run another MGADiag report and post back with the results.

Okay I've done all that, done the activate by telephone thing, and when clicking next after entering the confirmation ID, i got an error that said "The Confirmation ID you entered doesn't appear to match the instillation ID for this computer." I recalled a couple of times just to make sure it was correct, and I am 100% positive it's correct. I'm going to call customer support either tomorrow or Tuesday about it. I still thought I should post my MGA report to see if there was any obvious problems.
Here is my MGA report...

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, press Enter, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) -
then run the SFC.
SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Copy the CBS.log file created (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) to your desktop (you can't manipulate it directly) and then compress the copy and upload it to your SkyDrive Public folder (http://skydrive.live.com ) and post a link to it so that I can take a look.
Post a new MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

The SFC scan only came back with; "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log"
http://sdrv.ms/Wa1p8O - Here's the link to the compressed CBS. (I have never used skydrive before, so I hope this works.)
And here's my MGA report;

The scan repaired a minor file error - but there are some other errors present which it didn't attempt to repair.
Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)
Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file
Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your SkyDrive Public folder so I can take a look - post a link in your reply.

There is a problem with the Event Log service - or at least the output.
from your CheckSUR log....
(w) Unable to read Event Log 0x00000017 System
Let's see what happens if we try and clear the log
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command
wevtutil cl System
then try running the CheckSUR tool again - post the new CheckSUR.log file

I hope I have done this right. Here's the link - http://sdrv.ms/Zc5CnaTuesday, March 5, 2013 4:27 AM

That seems to have cleared the CheckSUR error :) - it now reports no problems found.
Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log file - it may show either more or less errors.
Please also run a new MGADiag report, and post the results.

Also thank you very much for trying to help me out with this problem.
Here's the MGA report..

The only errors I can see in the CBS logs relate to possible problems with a pending install/uninstall...
Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands:-
DIR C:\Windows\Winsxs\Pending.xml* DIR C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log DIR C:\Windows\winsxs\cleanup.xml Type C:\Windows\winsxs\cleanup.xml >> %userprofile%\desktop\nplogs.log Type C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log >> %userprofile%\desktop\nplogs.log Type C:\Windows\Winsxs\Pending.xml* >> %userprofile%\desktop\nplogs.log
This will create a file nplogs.log on your desktop - please upload it to your Skydrive public folder and post a link.

The nplogs.log was completely blank when opened in notepad.
andC:\Windows\Winsxs\Pending.xml* >> %userprofile%\desktop\nplogs.log
Returned with "The system cannot find the path specified."
I'm starting to think this problem cannot be fixed and I might have to buy Windows 7.Tuesday, March 12, 2013 8:32 AM -
Did the DIR commands produce anything?

Please attempt the Licensing Store fix from my first post again - it may work this time.
