Require and include a reason when non-OP marking an answer RRS feed

  • Question

  • This comes off the back of Mike's suggestion http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7773cfda-e905-4878-9b4c-f816552216d1/important-information-about-posts-is-missing that details of who marked a reply as an answer should be displayed again, so we can tell if it was the OP or someone else on the forums, and when the answer was marked.

I'd add to that the suggestion that where it's not the OP marking a post as an answer, the person marking it as such should be asked to give a reason they believe it to be the correct answer. This would help anyone coming across that post to understand the level of confidence attached to the answer, weed out any "well it's probably right, and no one else has answered", and perhaps allow others who have answered why their replied haven't been marked as such.

  • Keith, this makes sense. I'll put this in our backlog.
