Failing Validation on Genuine Win XP home. RRS feed

oday (18/03/2007) i tried to install the Windows media player 11. All went well until the validation process, where it failed to vaildate my version of windows XP Home Edition. Now i bought this pc in 2006 with xp pre-installed and with the key sticker on my PC. I never had to format or re-install nor did i use any special tweaking tools to temper any files that may have corrupted the validation. I'm pretty sure i have done everything as it should be done: Bought the pc, validated once in a while when downloading from windows.com, updated when new updates were available or needed & never shared the key with anyone. Whats causing this problem? I'd realy like to see it fixed. I'd hate having to look for other ways of fixing this problem cause i'm not buying windows XP again.

  • Hi Matt,

In order to recieve the best support, we request all users initially run the Genuine Diagnostics tool to try and identify the issue you may be having.

Download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.

Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:
    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

    Thank you,
