Window Home Server Remote Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have connected WHS through a cable modem(Motorola) then a voip terminal(GrandSream) and finally Linksys router. When Voip terminal is removed the WHS works perfectly for remote web and desktop access but does not work with Voip terminal.

  • The VOIP device is also functioning as a router. This creates a "double NAT" situation, where one router is handling network connections for another one. You can:

    • Rearrange your network so that the VOIP device connected to your linksys router as another client device, rather than sitting between your cable modem and your Linksys router, or
    • Configure the VOIP device to forward ports 80, 443, and 4125 to your Linksys router.
My recommeidation is to rearrange your network. It's simpler in the long run.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
