Why do some print queues display FQDN and other do not? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a windows domain with a windows 2003 print server with many windows xp clients.  A few months ago users began to notice in their printers and faxes window that some of their print queues listed with their fully qualified domain names while others did not (which is the norm).  In addition these computers that showed their FQDN would show in the details column Access Denied.  For some users they could still get to their print queue properties however for some they were completely restricted from accessing them.  For some we had to delete and re-create the print queue.  However, even for some of them we could not even delete their queue without admin privileges.  Now i understand somewhat the later problems because we have been implementing LUA on our workstations, but i still don't understand the FQDN names appearing.  Anybody notice a similar issue before.  Is there some external setting, program, or update that may have caused this to occur?
