Role based reports in MS CRM 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

As of now we are having 20 SSRS reports in one of our organization. Customer requested us those reports has to be enabled based on Roles.

Example: There are two users called User-A and User-B. User-A tagged to Role-1 and User-B tagged to Role-2.

Existing Reports with Names are Report-1 and Report-2.

As per the customer request, Report-1 has to be visible when User-A logged into CRM Application as well as Report-2 has to visible when User-B logged into CRM Application and other reports has to hidden when logged in.

    Kindly suggest on the same.

  • Hello,

    I would suggest following approach:

    1. Make all your reports personal.

    2. Develop a plugin which will handle Associate/Diassociate message for N-N relationship between systemuser and role entity.

    3. Based on the role that was assigned/removed from user share/unshare correspond report.

  • For the role aspect you could also use teams as that would be a built in method to share an object to that will allow you to dynamically manage the groups themselves without having that overhead of that plug-in firing any time one of these groups changes.
