Upgrade XP SP3 Home to XP Professional (3 year old upgrade CD)

  I have XP SP3 Home edition on my system. I have a older XP Professional Upgrade CD. When I try to load the upgrade I get a message that there is a newer version of XP on the system and the installation stops. Any suggestions? I cannot reformat and start over with this drive. I do have the CD for both XP Home (pre SP) and XP Professional Upgrade.
