SyncToy may be causing Symantec BackupExec Differential backups to increase in size RRS feed

  • Question

  • I run differential backups using Symantec BackupExec 2010 and, since starting to use SyncToy to synchronise folders between two locations (Sydney and Melbourne), these backups have increased in size massively. This suggests to me that far more files have been updated since my last full backup - this is most unlikely so I am wondering what file attributes SyncToy changes (if any) when it identifies files for synchronisation and whether it alters the archive bit on files at all. I'm hoping for some information that can help me to get my differential backups back to a realistic size. Thanks.
