How to covert the barcode on the COA into the product key RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do I go about converting the the barcode on the COA into the product key? I need to be able to do this so that we can store all valid product keys in database and the machine they pertain to. We want to do this using barcode readers to avoid data entry errors

The Barcode isn't the Product Key, as far as I know - it's merely a part number.
You could try checking a few with a reader to see.

If you want to inventorise your clients then you shouldn't be using the COA sticker anyhow - you should be using what the machine is using, which will be either the Volume License Key, or the OEM_SLP Key (or possibly the COA Key).
There are a number of pieces of software that can do this over the network so it can go straight into a database (I think MBSA is one of them - ask in that forum).
