  • Question

  • Hi, I downloaded Windows Live Mesh today, and it appears to have download correctly in that it is showing up on my notification bar.

When I click on the icon, it brings up a screen that says "windows Live Mesh" - so I am assuming that it downloaded correctly.

    The screen shows various options

    Folders

    Internet Explorer - Turned On

    Microsoft Office - Turned on

When we were using Live Sync - after we had logged on, I could locate all the shared folders by clicking on the Sync Icon. He used to send me an email saying that he was inviting me to share a folder and thereafter I had access to it.

What is not working is connecting to a friends computer. How is this done - we will both be making changes to one file.

    Thanks

Since you are referring to Windows Live Mesh, not Live Mesh - www.mesh.com, you are in the wrong forum.

For discussion of the new Windows Live Mesh (formerly Sync), (as well as the released Live Sync version) go here:

    http://windowslivehelp.com/forums.aspx?productid=24

The icon in your tray opens Windows Live Mesh. You can also log in at http://devices.live.com to manage your folders.

If you have added a folder to Windows Live Mesh for synchronizing, you can share that folder with someone (in addition to other computers that you log in on and SkyDrive Mesh folders).

To connect to another computer via Windows Live Mesh, your Live ID must be the one used to sign in on both computers. Remote access via Windows Live Mesh is not granted to other IDs.

  • I just checked the link and it works fine for me.

Go to http://windowslivehelp.com or serach for Windows Live Help and go to the Windows Live Solution Center main page. On that page, you'll see a link for "mesh" in the section entitled Windows Live Essentials.

As for the sharing, click on the Windows Live Mesh icon in the tray on the PC that has the original folder. Windows Live Mesh opens. Add the folder. When adding the folder, you are presented with the option to share the folder and how you wish to sync it with other computers and with SkyDrive storage.

If you have already added the folder to your Mesh, click on the folder in the Windows Live Mesh window and you can adjust the permissions. If you share it with your friend, an email is sent to him.

Detailed help is available by clicking on the Help icon in the program. It will launch this page: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mesh-devices-help-center?wa=wsignin1.0

  • Thanks for your time in responding, but I cannot access this forum via the hyperlink and cannot find the forum with a search.

I appreciate the reply you have given me, but really don't understand what you have explained. I thought it would have been a easy process, but somehow it it is a bit of a challenge

All we are trying to do is share folders. My friend will be accessing it using his log in and I will diong the same using mine (Just like we did via Sync). Can you please help or let me know how to find the correct forum.

    Thanks
