OCS Installation on Domain Server but not Domain Controller RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey all,

I have installed OCS R2 on a server bound to my domain, however it is not a domain controller.  Since doing this, I now have no options to add more users.  Does the installation have to be done on a Domain Controller?  I dont see why it would, nor do I see why it would be recommended.  Only problem is that it seems this is the only way I was able to add users in the first place.  When OCS R1 was deployed and initially configured, it was on a DC which is when I added the initial users.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I cant add users now?

  • You must install Administrative Tools on the Domain Controller or use Active Directory Users & Computers (dsa.msc) on your OCS server to have the Communications tab in AD

  • In R2, you must install the Administrative Tools separately with the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Deployment Wizard. You may have already noticed that Active Directory Users & Computers is not automatically extended for R2 management.

Please keep us posted if this helps. Thanks.
