MSN/Live not indexing my site? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I read the FAQ and still cannot find a reason my site is not being indexed by MSN.

My site (MyTrackSchedule.com) has been up for almost 2 years.  I have submited a site map (http://www.mytrackschedule.com/SiteMap.asp) via webmaster.live.com on the profile tab and sitemaps tab.  My site is  verified. My robots.txt also points to this sitemap file. Only 6 pages have been indexed on MSN even though I currently have 1,036 pages in my sitemap.  The webmaster tools says that it is not blocked and there are no crawl issues and has found 257 backlinks to my site.

Google and Yahoo have over 1,500 pages of my site indexed for quite a while.

Is there anything that can be done to get my site indexed by MSN as well?

    Thanks.

We base our indexing on site rank and currently you are ranked extremely low. I suggest reading the FAQs located at the top of the indexing and ranking forums as well as some of the recent webmaster blog posts located at: http://blogs.msdn.com/webmaster for more information about how our crawler works and what you can do to increase your rank and indexing.

  • Now I only have 5 pages indexed.  How did I lose a page?

  • Hi Brett,

I did read the FAQ and checked to make sure there weren't any problems.  I don't think that is the issue though.  If you look at what MSN has indexed, it does not make sense.

    http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=site:www.mytrackschedule.com

Why is my robots.txt file and SiteMap being indexed but not the most important page (http://www.mytrackschedule.com/Schedule.asp)?  Also the non-www version (http://mytrackschedule.com) of my page is indexed, yet I have a 301 permanent redirect to the www version (http://www.mytrackschedule.com).

There is clearly a problem with MSN's indexing.  Also, how can a page be ranked, if it is not even indexed?  Why do Google and Yahoo have no problems indexing my site?

    Thanks Brett.
