Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. RRS feed

  • Question

  • The situation is as follows: we're using the autonumber plugin that is made by CrmExtensions and available for free. However, for one customer this plugin sometimes fails with the message "Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.", since the plugin is registered on the PreCreate message, the record will not be created. This also affects my custom webform. I get a SoapException with error code: "0x80040265 (ISV code aborted the operation.)" . This happens on both test and production server.

But what makes it very difficult to track the cause of the issue, is that this only happens every few days.. So most of the time everything works fine, but sometimes the error occurs.  We've checked all configuration options for the CRM server, but everything seems to be OK.

So I'm looking for any help on this issue and what could be the problem here..

  • The most likely problem is if you've specified HTTPS as the protocol for the SDK to use with the web service, but the URL it uses does not contain the FQDN of the server/host specified by the certificate.

  • The trust relationship depends on the SSL certificate deployed by the sites, the URL used to access those sites (and whether or not it matches the SSL certificate's designated FQDN), and the trust level of the certificate authority and the availability of the certificate authority to validate the certificate.
