"This computer is not running genuine Windows" after reinstalling RRS feed

  • Question

  • My laptop died (it won't turn on anymore), so I installed my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop.
Everything has gone fine while installing all the updates, but now I keep getting the "This computer is not running genuine Windows" dialog. I downloaded and ran the MGADiag.exe and here are the results:

    (sorry about that!)
Your problem appears to be the result of a conflict with the WAT Update – this could be a small problem, or the result of having a non-genuine license in the first place....

I would suggest that you try uninstalling the WAT Update (KB971033), and rebooting, then re-installing the same update using the downloadable installer..... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

Once completed, run another MGADiag report, and post back with the results....

    Maybe :)
Try validating at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate – what happens???
If it passes, you’ll be offered MSE and IE9  - you do not need or have to take the offer!
just post back with a new MGADiag report.
