Bad Links for .NET 3.5 Content RRS feed

  • Question

  • On the page .NET Framework Advanced Development the .NET Remoting link  is broken. It leads to a "Content not found" page.

This happens for quite a lot of .NET 3.5 content. I'll follow a link to an older version, and try to get the current version, only to be met with the content not found page. This has been going on for a long time.

P.S. This belongs in the http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/libraryfeedback/threads forum, but I can't find it in the "Select a Forum Category" list.

WCF is Web Services. They are not two separate things.
Use WCF for All New Web Service Development, instead of legacy ASMX or obsolete WSE
Use File->New Project to create Web Service Projects

  • What link?  The "Switch on low bandwidth view" one works.  But yes, it's been a battle for them to keep it straight and they're not ahead.  Classic defense is to download the MSDN library to your machine so you don't have to rely on the Internet links.  The versions produced by DevDiv are pretty decent, I don't think the MSDN group is still alive.  The scripting error prompts on any COM topic still suck bad though.

You are hitting another classic link problem with social.microsoft.com, that's confused a ton of users already.  Modify the URL to include the "brand", it's social.msdn.microsoft.com.  Yes, that's sad.

  • I've fixed the link. Thanks for catching it.

As I said at the bottom of the post it belongs:

in the http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/libraryfeedback/threads forum, but I can't find it in the "Select a Forum Category" list.

If you can find that forum, please move this there.

  • The days of a mere community moderator being able to move a thread cross-forum are long gone.  You'll have to fix the URL yourself.  Sorry.  Erm, not.

  • I have manually "moved" this to http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/libraryfeedback/thread/54da607a-bb26-4033-bdc3-e12b03c3fcaa.

    Moderator: please delete this question.
