The toolbat

Question

I have installed Live Mesh on 3 different computers and installed the ActiveX to view the remote computer on 4 different computers. On two of the computers I can not get the toolbar to appear for the viewing computer, all you can see is the tool bar for the Remote Computer. There for I can not make it full screen or make any changes to the view of the remote desktop. What am I doing wrong?Thursday, October 8, 2009 2:30 PM

I received your email and responded.
My suggestions were to disable the Trend Micro add-in/toolbar that is apparently providing some filtering/safety to IE. Also, consider resetting IE to default settings on the Advanced tab in IE options.
Your image shows exactly as you describe - the blue bar for the local machine is not showing, only the remote machines blue bar, which only provides a status message. The resize arrow is only on the local machine's view and you are missing it. That leads me to believe that something is blocking the ActiveX control.

Are you connecting to the remote computer by starting at the Live Desktop in a web browser or from the Live Mesh application in the host PC's system tray?
If you are connecting from the application, there is no toolbar, but you should have a blue bar inside the frame of the remote PC with "you are connected to..." and an arrow pointing up to the right which, when clicked, allows you to maximize the window. Next to the frame showing the remote desktop you should see another smaller windows that is titled Live Mesh beta and below it, some actions, including Show dekstop actual size.
If you connect to the remote PC from your web browser, the same blue bar should appear at the top of the screen frame within your brwoser. The arrow allows you to show the remote PC in full screen on the local PC.
Are you not seeing this?

I am going the my web browser to access the remote computer. The toolbar is not there at all. All I can see is who is logged in to the remote computer like i would see if i was standing in front of the remote computer. I have no toolbar from the web browser.Friday, October 9, 2009 2:30 PM

Is the browser windows maximized? Are you seeing a simple Windows frame around the login screen of the remote PC and no blue bar within the frame at the top of the window with the arrow in it and the name of the remote PC? There is no toolbar - just that blue bar with the arrow and the PC name.

Is what i am looking for is the tool bar that says "you are logged in ..." . the tool bar that i see on the remote side using the browser says " ... is logged in press ctl+alt+del to disconnect".

That is the only toolbar. Just text and an arrow at the right hand end of the bar.
This is a snip of the browser connection to my remote PC:
The only thing you can do in that toolbar is to click the arrow to maximize it. On the right side under "interact" you have two other options, the 2nd being to show the remote desktop as actual size locally, which will cause the desktop to typically be smaller or larger than the local PC display.

You can send it to sboots_at_mvps.org -- replace _at_ with @ and put Live Mesh in the subject line.
You can't paste images into the forum. The image is hosted on photos.live.com that I am sharing here and to make it appear in the post you need to use the html button and edit the code. :-)
