Getting genuine. help please - I need to ! RRS feed

    My copy of Windows was genuine, loaded onto my PC by the retailer when I purchased my machine,  and I had no problems with it at all. (I still have my original key)

     

    My machine then crashed and I could not get the recovery pack to work so I asked a guy in the village to help - he had done computer repair work for quite a few people I know, and they were all satisfied with his work.  Bearing in mind I live in France, and he is an English guy.

     

    To cut a long story short, I have recently been getting messages to say my copy is not genuine,  He has now left the village (don't know where he has moved to!) and when I try to buy a new genuine key I keep getting the message it is not available to me.

     

    Any advice anyone please?  I am not very computer literate and therefore am terrified of losing all my files - yes Ihave some backed up but not all - too many!
