Syncing between computers-Files moved, but then repopulate from other computers RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently syncing a file between our server and three other machines (approvals), but I am not sure that I have it set up properly because this particular file is for approvals and if one of these users moves a file into another (i.e-needs approved to approved), it appears that the same files appear again later (maybe when one of the other users gets online/syncs again).  I am wondering if maybe they are all talking to our server which is how I shared files to the other machines, but not talkimg to each other.  Any ideas?

    Thank you!

For discussion of the new Windows Live Mesh (formerly Sync), (as well as the released Live Sync version) go here:

Files will be replicated to the Mesh with the computer name if the file changes in more than one location before it is synchronized between all devices. This prevents loss of data. Basically, if all PCs in the Mesh are online at the same time and only one user changes the file, it will sync to all machines fairly quickly. If, however, a user is off-line, it *should* sync to that machine as soon as the user logs into Mesh (typically happens automatically). If they open and thereby change the file before the sync is complete, you'll get a duplicate.
