Configure SRS Dataconnector for two instance of SQL reporting services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    We have this scenario:

    • 1 SQL Sever 2008;
    • 2 Named Instance SQL (SERVER\SQL_DEV ; SERVER\SQL_QUAL);
    • 2 instance SQL Reporting Services (REPORTS$SQLQUAL; REPORTS$SQLDEV);
    • 1 SRS DataConnector.

    How we can configure the SRS Dataconnector for two instance of SQL reporting services ?

    I tried this KB947060 but the problem still there.

    Can anyone help me with that?

    Thanks,

    Jessica

  • HI Jessica,

    SRS connector is only for a single instance. I don't belived you can use it for two instances.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Dear Jessica,

    Can you tell us more about the scenario? I can imagine that you have two organizations of CRM (that could be two servers or two Organizations on the same CRM Implementation). AFAIK the CRM SRS  only works for one Instance of SQL Server...

    Regards...

  • Hi Jimmy,

    The scenario is more than two organization on the same CRM Implementation.

  • hi
    CRM will when you create the second org will create a second org withi SSRS db's.
    Multitenancy will not allow the cross polination of db's with SSRS.

    Because for the fact there is only one CRM server SSRS will create the dev org in the production report server.

  • Hi,

    Following all the responses I got, I thought a way to resolve this situation, so I install Reporting Services on the same machine of the CRM and the tried to install the srsdataconnector, this instance of reporting services is pointing to the instance name SERVER\SQL_DEV on the SQL SERVER machine.

    The installation of the reporting services when successfully the problem is installing the srsdataconnector, I’m getting this message "
    Unable to validate SQL Server Reporting Services Report Server installation. Please check that it is correctly installed on the local machine." when the environment check is running....

    I have follow the method 2 of
    KB947060 but the problem still there.

    What I’m doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Jessica

  • Are you able to access the Report server through the URL to ensure it is running as expected.  http;//nameOfMachine/reportserver  That error message generally indicates something is wrong in the Report Server configuration.

    I don't think you are going to be successful running two Report Servers and one SRSS Data Connector.  However, you should be able to run one Report Server and multiple organizations with one Data Connector.  Not sure if there is an issue because it is a named instance but I don't think it should be.  Have a look at John O'Donnell's video on Multi-Tenancy and see if that helps.

  • Hi Donna,

    Yes, I was able to run the
    http://nameOfMachine/reportserver.

    My problem was that I expected to run 2 Report Servers with the same SRSS Data Connector.

    We actually tried to install the SRSS Data Connector for the second named instance but that was not possible so, I get another machine with SQL Server and Report Server, install the SRS Data Connector and changed all the organizations from CRM to point to the new SQL Server.
