Virtual Earth keeps crashing my computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, recently whenever I open virtual earth 3D, my computer would instantly turn into the blue screen. I didn't experience that a while ago, but somehow it started happening recently. No matter how many times i try, it would crash right away.

    Does anyone know why?

  • Hi Dead.O,

I received this response from the VE team:

"VE doesn't install any kernel mode drivers (i.e. the bits that can cause a BSOD).  Most likely they have a bug in their video drivers & the use of acceleration in the rendering is exercising a problem code path.

There could be other problems (bad memory, etc.) that are only exposed during a high stress event but I would suggest that they run Windows Update (and make sure they have at the least the latest video drivers.  Also, depending on the OS & Version a dump file is created when a BSOD occurs.  If you can get them to send it in, we can take a look and tell them what the crash is from."

If you would like to send a dump file, please send it to lswmc@microsoft.com.

    Thanks,

    Brett
