Laptop had to be formatted - Windows Activated but not Genuine? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to fix a laptop that wouldn't boot up, formatted the hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows Home Premium. Used the Windows product code on the sticker on the back. Called the automated activation line and got things activated but still not showing up as genuine. Can't use Windows Update.

  • There don't appear to be any problems in your report - I suspect that the cause of your issues is the residue of the original Anti-Virus installed by the manufacturer - what was it?
