  • Question

  • Hello, First of all, we have installed office communication server 2007 R1 and created users. The main issue we were facing was abt certificates; so since the OCS server was being used internally, we used the TCP option of signing in (SO no certificates).

The prime reason for using the communicator is only for IM. We are now planning to use it for outside so i installed the Communicator Web Access.

The second step for activating asked me for the certificate so since CA was installed i chose the default certificate (Do i really need a certificate here?)
The third step asked for create virutal directory and i chose for external users at the end it also asked for https or http and I chose http (Is this right?)

Browsing the site comes up and since i enabled the roles on the users i tried signing in. After signing in it throws the error

Your connection was ended. Please sign in again.(Error code: 0-1-484)

Im browsing the site on the server itself, Is this the correct way?

    Please advice

  • No errors in the event logs. However i just deactivated all my OCS server roles and activated them again and it worked. Communication web server is working and siging in perfectly.

  • It's not a requirement to have a certificate for the CWA connection from the browser but you must have certificates on both the CWA server and OCS front end server.  Even if you disable TLS on the front end OCS still requires all server to server communication to be encrypted.

  • That particular error is too generic to give an exact reason for the failure.  Do you have any errors or warnings in the OCS event log on the CWA server?
