  • Hello CJGannon (and everyone else that posted their Diagnostic Report in someone elses thread),

All the Diagnostic Reports, posted in this thread, show that Vista was installed using a KMS Client Key.

As you may know, KMS Client versions of Vista are used by Large Companies, Universities or Government Agencies to easily manage large numbers of Windows installs within their organization.

KMS Clients activate by connecting to a KMS Server (i.e. KMS Clients do not connect to Microsoft to activate). I suggest contacting your organization’s Network Admin or IT Dept for assistance in connecting your KMS Client to your organization's KMS Server.

    Thank you,

  • Hi,

Thank you for your answer. If I understand well, we have to install a KMS server in the next 6 months, before having problems.

But, is there a way to change the key with a MAK ?

    Best regards,

KMS Client licenses are only sold in quanities of 25 or more thru a Volume Licanse Agreement such as a Select or Enterprise Agreement. You state that your computer is locked, what about the other 25+ computers in your company's network.

Do what you wish, but be aware, your company could be liable if they are running unlicensed software. http://dallas.bizjournals.com/dallas/stories/2005/11/07/daily28.html

     FinSyl wrote:

That's why I do not understand how your company could pay thousands of dollars for a Select or Enterprise Agreement (with 25+ KMS licenses) and not know they needed a KMS Server.

If your company gave you this KMS key, are you Sure your company doesn't have a KMS server? Have you contacted your Network Administrator or IT Dept? Have you contacted the person at your company that is the Administrator of your company's Select or Enterprise agreement? If not, I suggest that you do so.
