  • Question

  • In the older versions of Vista, It could be easy to see a drawing of bad sectors in HD when we operate scan disk but in Windows vista we can not. Am I right or not?

  • Hi Twin11,

Have a look at the following, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

I have found on my Vista SP1 system sitting here that you get a report on this information, but you must ensure that 'Fix Automatically' is not selected.

Additionally, if you do not see this option I found that this logs the detail in the system area of the event viewer.

If this does not help then I will try get some more detail with screen shots up on the new technet wiki, unless this is already there.

  • You can do a "chkdsk" in command prompt to check if there are bad sectors in your HD.
