Cannot Use a USB to Serial Prolific Cable with Vista 64 Home Premium RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a new HP Pavilion Slimline s3720f desktop running Windows Vista 64 Home premium. I recently purchased a Prolific USB-to-Serial DB9 RS232 Adapter (Prolific chipset) and proceeded to install it using the driver that came with the CD included with the cable. When I plug the USB terminal of the cable in one of the USB ports in my PC, the New Hardware program tries to install it but fails, indicating that it is an Unknown device. Do you have any idea what can be causing this problem?
