An unauthorized change was made to Windows.

Question
-
I restarted my computer the other day and the computer had several Microsoft Windows updates that it wanted me to update. I did and when I turned my computer back on I got to my login screen typed in my password and then a black screen and a window were the only things to appear. The first window was titled "Windows Activation: and said:
"Windows has discovered a change that will result in limited Windows functionality. Use the link below to find out how to fix Windows."
The options to choose from were "Learn more online" and "Close" If I chose "Close" it would log me out back to my sign in screen and if I hit "Learn more online" another window popped up in the place of the first with the same "Window Activation title" and said:
"An unauthorized change was made to Windows

Error: 0xC004D401
Description:
The security processor reported a system file mismatch error."
This window only had one button to click on and it said "Learn more online" so I did and it took me to a site on google chrome which I use as my default browser. The page would not load at first and it said "Aw Snap" like chrome does and wanted me to reload...this is the site it took me to:
"go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=89429&OSW=6.0.6001.2.00010300.1.0.000.00.1033&RFM=2&LegitCheckError=C004D401"
I can't even get the site to reload.
Please help how do I fix this problem? I have read others who have had similar problems but every person seems to have a different problem or solution so that is why I am typing in exactly as mine is acting. I have been trying to get it to work for a few weeks and sometimes I can get the page up and loaded that i referenced before and other times not. Today (I'm not sure what it is called) but when I move my curser over the middle top of my screen the trash can, internet options, photo center, etc comes down like it would normally before this issue happened and even let me browse the internet; but this hidden bar wouldn't show up when I scrolled over it before.
Also yesterday I turned on my computer for the first time in a week to see if for some magical reason it was fixed and when I turned on my computer it took me straight to my normal desktop without having me log in. I thought it was fixed. I ran a full scan with BitDefender 2012 security on my computer and everything seemed fine, I restart my computer to make sure it was completely fixed and I'm back at square one.

.
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )Once saved, run the tool.Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report. To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.- **in your own thread**, pleasePlease also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

This is NOT a fault with the anti virus software. The fault lies with Windows and the paranoia that Microsoft night be missing out on making money somewhere.
I received this error after uninstalling the McAfee software that came pre-installed on my machine.
The message has caused me stress and difficulties and now I wish to Microsoft for compensation - it is not too much to demand that they change the software I have paid for so that it woks properly.

No - the problem IS with the AV software. The AV manufacturers took the earliest opportunity to remove support for older version of Windows that they could.MSE will still happily run on Vista RTM (although it's not a supported configuration)If McAfee came pre-installed then it is at least 3 years out of date - and should be uninstalled immediately and the installation cleaned up using the MCPR tool. You should then update the machine to SP2 and reinstall a NEW copy of your preferred anti-virus.

That fix may apply in a Server context - and it may apply in this context also - but given the known causes and cures here, the best solution was the one offered.
Thanks for the link, though - it's one I hadn't seen before.
