  • Question

  • Will "MCPD Enterprise Application Developer 4.0" be available in the near future?

At the moment i am searching for an Upgrade path to achieve MCPD EAD. I already have MCAD and MCPD Windows Dev (via Upgrade 552). Now i can chosse the Webupgrade and Exam 70-529. But i dont like the idea, to take the old 529 test. I would prefer a newer test with WCF. But there seems no direct upgrade path. I also do not like the idea to make all the 3.5 tests from the beginning, if in the near future the 4.0 are available to achieve EAD.

    I would appreciate any advice.

  • Hi Sven,

You could upgrade your MCPD Windows to  MCPD Windows 3.5 or just take 70-505 Windows

Then you will need to take 70-561 ADO.Net, 70-503 WCF and 70-562 ASP.Net and then take MCPD EAD 3.5.

Yes, you need to take all the exams to achieve MCPD EAD except 70-536 that you already have.

The first option gives you MCPD Windows 3.5 as well.

MCPD EAD is no longer available at 4.0 apparently 'nobody knows what it means',

So you could skip 3.5 and got straight to 4.0, it would require 6 exams to get MCPD Windows and Web. 70-511, 70-513, 70-515, 70-516, 70-518 and 70-519.

    I suggest you

Take upgrade exam MCPD Windows ->  MCPD Windows 3.5 (1 Exam) then upgrade exam -> MCPD Windows 4.0 (this gives you 70-513, 70-511, 70-516 and 70-518).

Windows at 4.0 means mainly WPF.  You could then take 2 more certificates to get MCPD Web 4.0.

No easy route unfortunately, as you are not currently MCP EAD.

    Good Luck,

    Ozzy Geoff

  • Are you looking to take training for this new path or are you just trying to get exam paths?
