I know the whole team looks forward to seeing what people develop as a part of this contest.  A lot of feedback from the people that took part in the Worlds Best App contest has been rolled into this new one.

    Cheers,

  • Bots are like automated chat friends. To enjoy a bot, download Windows Live Messenger and add a Live Bot as your friends. Then on you can chat with the bot friend whenever you want. You chat will be responded by automated AI running on remote server.

IMProv Center and Akonix Offer Additional Prizes

If you go to the IMProv Center you can download a free trial version of Akonix L7 Builder SDK to use for the contest.  They are also offering additional prizes if you use Builder and host the Bot (for free) at the IMProv.

You can check it out at:  http://www.improvcenter.com/MSN_Bot_Contest.aspx

One of the biggest requests we got during the contest was to make XMLHTTP and XMLDOM functionality available without requiring ActiveX provisioning.

I'm happy to announce that there is now a way to do this.  IE7 moves the XMLHTTP and XMLDOM functionality into the core IE binary.  This means you can now create Activity Apps using XMLHTTP and XMLDOM functionality without needing the ActiveX provisioning flag.

    IE7 Beta 2 is available from http://www.microsoft.com/ie
