access to other system mapped network drives RRS feed

  • Question

I have Windows Home Server running on one system and have Linux running on another system.

What I want to know is if I can map a shared drive from the linux box and access it on the WHS box.

I would like to access my files on the Linux system via the web interface on the WHS but do not want to store my files on the WHS due to the data corruption issue. Although I like the WHS web interface.

  • Only shares created through the Windows Home Server console application can be exposed through the Remote Access web site, so no you can't do what you want.

  • Thanks for the reply, they should add this capability for users who already have a NAS or file server already setup. I can access all my files on the Linux box other ways but the WHS interface is easier for the kids...
