Project 2007 cannot connect to Project Server RRS feed

    I am attempting to connect to our Project 2007 server with Project 2007, and receive a "cannot connect" message. I am entering my network credentials. The project servers was setup by someone else. Please tell me what I need to check.

    Hello Phonix,

    I would recommend to test the below.

    Trust the Project web access URL. Open Project web access from your machine using your windows account 

    Are you able to access? If yes, configure project professional to connect your project server account. Try to access.

    If no, identify the windows account to login PWA. Then provide that credentials while trying through Project pro.

    Ensure the account has atleast Project manager permission in Project server.

    Thank all of you for your suggestions! I appreciate your willingness to help.

    I worked with the Site developer upon his return and it was found that I did not have the necessary permission on the server settings.

    Hello Phoenix IT

    Start of checking the following:

    1) Make sure IIS is up and running

    2) check that services are running, both SharePoint and Project Server (2).

    3) check ULS log files for error message

    4) check SQL database Log files for info

    5) check Windows events..  be sure services accounts have not been disable, etc

    Have you created an account for yourself in Project Professional? Go to Tools > Enterprise Options > Project Server Accounts

    Can you confirm that you set this up correctly?

    Thanks for the list of services and items to check.

    1. IIS is running

    2. Sharepoint & Project Server are running.

    3. What are "ULS" log files?

    4. SQL logs, haven't found them....

    5. Windows events.... I rebooted the server, then found the following in System & Application.

    • System: Source: DCOM, Event ID: 10016, Description: "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
      {61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1}
       to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20).  This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool." There are 10 or 15 of such errors.
    • Application: Source: Windows SharePoint Service, Event ID: 2424, Description: The update cannot be started because the content sources cannot be accessed. Fix the errors and try the update again. Context: Application 'Search', Catalog 'index file on the search server Search'

    I'm not sure if these errors are applicable to not being able to connect.

    Yes, I created an account in Project Pro 2007. When I've attempted to connect and it was unsuccessful, I then entered my network credentials manually.

    The project server is running, and we have created project sites on it.

    Hello Phonix IT,

    Use the ULS Viewer found on code plex to view the log files.  The are found in /Program file/Common Files/ Microsoft Shared/web server extentions/12/logs.   Look for "error' in the files for clues.

    The SQL logs are found in different location with the SQL server management studio. Depends on the version, but basically under the management folder, is the SQL Server Logs.
