Integration with Apple Safari browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does Windows Live OneCare integrate with the Safari browser? I have to use this on my laptop as IE7 crashes everytime I try to use it!

I'm running XP Home on SP3.

    Thanks.

  • One Care protects your computer regardless of the browser used. You may have an incompatible add-on in Internet Explorer which is causing it to crash. You can get help with Internet Explorer here - http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general&cat=en_us_28cca3eb-7037-4d4f-bde1-d8efee1f1420&lang=en&cr=us

  • While Rick, MS in correct in stating that OneCare requires that Internet Explorer be installed, and it’s also true that OneCare has some (very limited) “integration” with Internet Explorer, it isn’t necessary for third-party browsers to be “integrated” with OneCare in order to use them with OneCare. By using an alternative browser you will lose all of the security features that are built in to Internet Explorer, but OneCare will continue to protect you with exactly the same on-access malware scanning regardless of which browser you’re using, as JimR1 indicated.

  • alangmea,

Thank you for contacting the Live OneCare program forum. Unfortunately we do not support the functionality/integration of third party browsers. I can pass along the system requirements for Live OneCare.

    Windows Live OneCare System Requirements:

Windows Live OneCare will check your system automatically during setup. To install Windows Live OneCare, your computer must be connected to the Internet.

    • Microsoft Windows XP (Home Edition, Professional, Media Center Edition, or Tablet PC Edition) with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later, or Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate) operating system (OneCare does not support the Windows XP Professional 64-bit operating system)
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher for Windows XP SP2; Phishing Filter requires Windows Internet Explorer 7
    • PC with 300 MHz or faster CPU speed
    • 256 MB of RAM and 600 MB of available hard disk space; 25 GB of available space reqiured for central backup features
    • 56 kbps or faster Internet connection (broadband recommended)
    • CD or DVD burner, external hard drive, or USB-enabled media or storage device required for backup and restore functionality (not required for installing Windows Live OneCare)
    • At this time, Windows Live OneCare does not support computers with a Dynamic Disk structure

Thank you for visiting the Live OneCare program forum.

  • Thanks to everyone for their help. I have uninstalled the Google toolbar and IE no longer crashes when I close it. I can go back to using IE now!

    Cheers.
