Back Up Problem - doesn't recognized there is a blank CD/DVD in the drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are ripping our hair out. Help. It would not recognized the CD in either drive we drive. I went back and bought completely different brand and this time bought a DVD+R. Exactly same thing is happening again. Any suggestions?

  • The first thing to confirm that you are actually using a blank DVD in a DVD Writer and not a CD Writer.

Assuming that basic point has been confirmed, the problem may be caused by conflicting burning software installed and active. Some burning software includes packet writing software - InCD from Nero, DirectCD from Roxio - and these types of software can block access to the drive by OneCare (or other software). Additionally, some "media detection" software, that is a small program that watches the drive and detects what has been inserted to run the appropriate software when a disc is inserted, will cause problems with access to the drive by OneCare.

If neither of these apply to you, I suggest that you contact support for help.
