  • Hello pricus99,

Normaly we ask that anyone with a Non-Genuine issue create their own thread, but I went ahead and split your posts into it's own thread, for you.

I believe Vista's Licensing Store is corrupt or is unreadable for some reason.
    Following to recreate the Store:

    1) Open an Internet Browser

    2) Type %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.

    3) Find the file CMD.exe

    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'

    5) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)

    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32

    9) Type net start slsvc

    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)

    11) Reboot Twice

    12) You will likely be asked to enter a Product Key and/or reactivate. Use the key found on the sticker on the side or bottom of the computer and Activate using the 'By Phone' method.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS

  • Hello Pricus99,

Then you would want to create a (no cost) WGA support request at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52029 for assistance with your Vista Non-genuine issue.

However,  If your windows is unable to run a simple self contained (i.e. non-installable) exacutable file which passively reads information from windows (the Diag does not activly do anything to Windows) then that suggests a possible larger issue with Vista itself, that may actually be causeing the Non-Genuine issue as a side effect.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
