How to customize CRM 2013 form navigation RRS feed

    I am customizing the form navigation for multiple entities in a CRM 2013 on-premise environment. Changing the position of a related entity is very straight forward however...

    --How do I create new groups? I can see "Common", "Sales", "Service", "Marketing"... but I need to create other group(s)

    --How do I change the tile colors?

    --Is there any kind of documentation from Microsoft that can guide me through this?

    Hi, 

    As far as I know you can not add new Top Level groups to the CRM navigation tree. I'm curious - what would you be trying to add? I'd suggest adding entities and related entities under those top level groups and navigating that way if possible - I think everything MSFT provides out of the box should cover more or less anything you'll be doing with your CRM.

    Similarly, I don't believe you can customize the colors of the MSFT default menu structure without manually hacking up the source - not advised.

    There is a tool called the Sitemap editor that will let you change the navigation for CRM 2013.  I know of no supported method to change navigation colors.

    Thanks for the reply. I use the same tool for customizing the site map but I do not see there how to customize the navigation of form-related items.

    The Ribbon Editor might help there: https://crmvisualribbonedit.codeplex.com/

    Barring those two, I am not sure what you want done can be done.

    Ryan, Thanks for the reply. I should make clear that I'm trying to customize form navigation and not the top-level navigation. I have the related entities created (and for some entities I have more than a few) but in trying to organize some of the forms' navigation bars I find that it would be more friendly to "group" them either in those named groups (which I would need a couple more) or maybe by playing with the tile colors... but neither of them seem to be open for customization... hence my question posted. I'll add an image to help visualize it.
