Batch files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Very simple batch file which runs flawlessly in Windows 8 but fails to run in Vista. The results when it fails: the first command is carried out but the executable is not. Using Windows dos prompt and typing in the batch filename in the CLI.

    Action taken:

1 open Cmd prompt window as Admin

2 type in the name of the batch file

    chcp 65001 <----this works fine

Active code page: 65001<---it returns this

4 START CCS.exe <-----this shows nothing in the Command prompt run as admin.

Why does this fail in vista? Also have tried every command I could find besides START in the batch file

to try and get this to work in Vista but there might be more I am unaware of also if this same batch file is run and Notepad.exe is substituted all it well in both Win8 and Vista.
