Need 25 char product key for Parallels install RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,
I am installing XP Pro in Parallels. It only wants a 25 character product key. The key I have with my Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP Professional is only 23 characters long. It looks like: 6000XXXXXX-XX-XXXXXXX-XXXX.
How do I get a 25 char product key for my existing valid copy of Windows XP Pro?

  • Hello Mr_William_Clark,

When you purchase a Microsoft WGA Kit, the Product Key for your purchase is emailed to you, it does NOT appear anywhere on the package or materials that are sent to you.

Windows Product Keys are in a "five by five" format, IOW, they are presented as 25 characters in five groups of five characters each.  For example:  ABC12-345DE-67FGH-89JKL-MN123  The letters "I" and "O" and the numerals "1" and "0" are not used to minimize errors.

If you need help from Microsoft Customer Support regarding your Product Key, please see the info at this page:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/OrderHelp.aspx?displaylang=en

Please post back to let us know if the above info solved your problem :-)
